You will be working in a fast-paced operation, having full accountability for a large warehouse with multiple facets so you will be instrumental in ensuring all daily operations are met, whilst supporting all team members to promote a productive warehouse environment.

Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Operations Manager, your role will be to manage, co-ordinate and monitor the flow of products throughout the warehouse from Goods In to Dispatch, whilst ensuring critical operational activities are performed as per agreed targets. Resource planning (people/products/equipment), strategy, forecasting and continuous improvement will all be key elements of the role as well as performance management, coaching and development of other managers and supervisors. You will also be expected to identify opportunities to improve workflow and enhance operational efficiency. All in all, you will ensure the warehouse is fully organised, running smoothly and all resources are being utilised efficiently.

Main responsibilities include:

Devising, implementing and driving continuous improvement and problem solving activities

Overseeing a restructuring of the warehouse

Overseeing stock move to a secondary location

Management and control of the warehouse department

Ensuring the required levels of performance, work standards, outputs, service and quality are achieved and that a safe working environment is maintained.

Leading the department to become increasingly more productive and efficient in the delivery of targets and in the support of the wider operations.

Constantly seeking, identifying and coordinating improvements in efficiency and productivity in the warehouse and distribution operation

Establishing performance criteria, measures and evaluation to demonstrate continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility

Liaising with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the warehouse

Ensuring all customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met

Effecting good communication to motivate the team by maximising personal and team performance

Ensuring all reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner to ensure meaningful data is reported daily/weekly/monthly to the Operations Manager

Ensuring housekeeping standards and safe systems of work are met and maintained

The ideal candidate would:

Have suitable expertise and experience in a similar role

Have excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, along with the ability to make decisions in difficult situations

Be an excellent communicator across all levels with above average written and verbal skill

Have a strong focus on continuous improvement and associated activities

Have the ability to step back and overview situations, make delegations, and also being comfortable to have hands on involvement to resolve situations

Have a positive and professional attitude with a high standard of work ethics

Have excellent planning and organisational skills, with an emphasis on ability to plan and organise work schedules, recognising and implementing process and commercial improvement opportunities

Have proven understanding of H&S systems, manual handling and the safe movement of goods together with the ability to identify and resolve safety issues as they arise.

Have excellent IT skills as the role will involve some analytical and reporting duties.

This is initially a 3 month contract however it could be extended and become permanent.
