Our client is an established manufacturer, and they are seeking a Market Development Researcher to join their Research & Development (R & D) Team.

Reporting to R&D Manager, the Market Development Researcher will assist with all research orientated towards innovative new product development, and the role will involve office based work, as well as work out in 'the field', including some foreign travel.

The successful Market Development Researcher will be responsible for:

In-depth market analysis with the intent of discovering future business opportunities and potential threats

Assessment and analysis of the needs of end-users so as to identify new or improved product opportunities

Assessment and analysis of the activities of competitors

Full analysis of particular markets in terms of distribution channels, pricing and product promotion and communication

Consideration of the most effective means of marketing the new product so as to advise the sales team

Desk and field research

Preparation and presentation of research reports and go-to-market plans

New product launch co-ordination with the sales team

Key objectives include:

Carrying out specific research projects as determined by the R&D Manager

Researching new product markets, including gathering information on existing products in the market (product specification, pricing, product variants) and on the competing manufacturer's method of product distribution, promotion, pricing and general status, as well as contacting end-users, product specifiers, regulators and distributors of the existing products in the market to gain an appreciation of their needs and how they perceive the strengths and weakness of existing products

Researching new markets for new products to develop

Collating, analysing and documenting the information gathered

The successful Market Development Researcher must be able to demonstrate:

A solid understanding of marketing principles

Good analytical & report writing skills

Excellent communication skills, particularly in developing contacts outside the company

Advance use of MS Word including Excel and pivot tables

Other languages -French in particular will be useful

Ideally a degree in Business, Marketing or similar

A valid driving licence

Market research experience especially involving communication directly with market participants

Reporting writing of research findings
