Manufacturing Team Leader - Preston

A leading manufacturing company based in Preston are currently seeking a Manufacturing Team Leader to work Nights on a permanent basis.

This is a 'team lead' role which involves the duel responsibility of operating a press and liaising with a Supervisor to coordinate activities on individual shifts.

Additional Team Lead responsibilities may vary but will include (not exhaustive):

TEAM LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with organisation/prioritisation of work within the department to make efficient use of labour and resources. Day to day decision making to ensure all functions are carried out in a timely manner to avoid down time.

Responsible for deputising in Supervisor absence (holidays, meetings etc.) to take overall responsibility for the label manufacturing department.

Involvement and responsibility for assisting in improving press efficiency's - helping other team members achieve press cycle speeds.

Provide leadership and active participation in Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Attend any meetings where necessary and assist in the weekly staff meetings to aid effective communication.

Act as interface (point of contact) between Supervisor and shop floor employees providing regular updates on any relevant topics/issues such as morale, productivity, quality, workload etc.

Carry out general low level Supervisory responsibilities - monitor and measure overall production activity and evaluate individual performance levels and highlight any performance or production issues.

Manage time efficiently on and off press to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Support operators to improve productivity and quality targets whilst monitoring the working environment to ensure the required Health & Safety (and housekeeping) standards are met at all times.

Provide training and support to others where appropriate and ensure adherence to relevant procedures.

Assist team members with objective setting and completion.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Good general level education

Good interpersonal skills

1 - 3 years of print related experience

Experience of operating high-speed production machinery

Experience of working on a production environment to high quality standards and meeting targets and deadlines

General computer skills and numerical skills

Ability to use initiative with excellent problem-solving skills

Flexible approach with the ability to follow detailed instructions

This is a permanent full-time position working Sunday to Thursday 10.15pm till 6.15am paying £25k - £26.5 basic with 30% shift allowance taking it to £32,500 - £34,450
