My client has been established over 30 years and is a leader in it's sector. Manufacturing and supplying security based products, they're continuing to develop their product range.

They're now looking for a Team Leader with previous experience of implementing and improving manufacturing systems and processes to achieve efficiency within a growing department.

The role requires a 'hand's on & can-do' approach, from co-ordinating the workflow through the department to managing the people & quality issues in order to put the customer first.

Main responsibilities of the role will include:

An understanding of 6'S

Maintain and report against agreed departmental performance measures, including productivity targets, in line with the agreed timetable against KPI'S

Initiate continuous improvement plans to better the department and assisting management in the projects relating to the departments

Ensuring every effort is made to ensure that the agreed performance targets are met, and where they are not being met, taking appropriate action to return performance to target levels

Use and maintain the area action board daily whilst ensuring use of the principles of lean manufacturing

Ensuring that all legal and audit requirements, including Health & Safety Risk assessments are adhered to

Meeting H&S requirements by ensuring all risk assessments, safe systems of work, associated training requirements are up to date and that staff are using the appropriate PPE

Regularly review H&S issues via toolbox talks, and encouraging employee participation in identifying related issues and potential hazards

Producing reports for the near misses/accidents, and documents and full investigations take place where necessary

Ensuring the department's daily Manufacturing target is achieved, with all products made on time to the company's required quality standard

Material requisition form submission for the warehouse before the production unit requires the material and these requisitions take account of the actual orders in the system and residual stock in the production area.

Regular two-way communication with the relevant Production Manager to ensure that all roadblocks are highlighted early and actions agreed to remove them

Ensuring departmental product checks are completed in line with the daily quality check list

Maintaining training records and skills matrices and inputting into training and development plans

The performance of all direct reportees is managed in a systematic, objective and professional way and in accordance with the agreed values and behaviours of the company

Employee appraisals completed on time and recorded on the team members personal file in the HR department

Ensuring return to work interviews are conducted on the day of return of the employee and documentation is recorded in the HR department

The successful Team Leader will be self-motivated, flexible and willing to develop.

Computer literacy using Microsoft office programs is essential.
