My clients specialise in providing IT services & support to a wide range of small to medium sized firms throughout the north west - mostly in the Preston area.

They are looking to appoint another IT Support Engineer to join their small but highly skilled team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to showcase both their customer service and technical skills in a role that includes helpdesk, installations & onsite support.

The ideal candidate will have IT problem solving skills and hands-on technical abilities and will be able to demonstrate these during interview.

They are looking for someone comfortable with all/most of the following technologies; ip, windows server, firewalls/routers, networking, sage 50, PC's, printers, mailservers, cloud services, MS Office type app support, cloud computing, virtualisation & backup technologies.

The role is varied & will include working from the helpdesk & site visits for support calls as well as project implementation/installs (hardware & software).

Additionally the successful candidate will have shown a real focus on customer service & possess excellent recollection skills.

Have a can do' attitude with a strong desire to make a difference. Have a real willingness to learn. Have proven expertise & experience in a previous IT support/engineering role.

Hours are Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm & 9am - 5pm (weekly rotation).

Occasional out of hours work is expected & overtime paid.

Standard 20 days hols/yr + bank hols.

Full time position will be subject to a 12-month probationary period.

Full driving licence & own car reqd.

Person Spec; Qualifications; Good English & maths essential. Formal IT qualifications desirable. The experience you MUST have is at least 1 year in a IT engineering/support role (this is essential). DO NOT apply for this role if you are not a technically strong systems support engineer.

Skills; Articulate with excellent communication skills. It is essential that the person is capable of explaining & translating what might be technical matters to non technical customers.

Attention to detail is vital - not only must you be able to troubleshoot, diagnose & fix but you need to be able to communicate that to customers and your colleagues with strict adherence to systems, policies, procedures & protocol.

Knowledge - Professional working knowledge of SME IT & the ability to support it.

Disposition - reliable, enthusiastic about IT support, self motivated, ability to work under pressure & to tight deadlines.
