Successful Financial Service Company in Blackpool have a need for an experienced IT Service Engineer.

Reporting to the IT Service Desk Manager. The Service Engineer will be responsible supporting and management of a wide portfolio of technical services across the Group.

Responsibilities will include:

Perform complete 1st and 2nd line IT duties with additional (as directed) 3rd line IT duties
Primary contact for IT Service Desk team, logging and triaging incidents and service requests
Diagnosing and resolving technical issues logged via Helpdesk ticketing system within agreed SLA¿s
Escalating issues to 3rd line /Dev where required
Ensuring desktops, laptops, devices, servers and systems are up to date with security updates and protection
Ensuring company data is adequately backed up to ensure recovery and protection
Continually reviewing and adapting infrastructure in line with dev/ops systems demand
Performing problem management and root cause analysis on key incidents with the associated internal and external providers
Setting up, configuring and maintaining new hardware, software, networking, telephone and cloud infrastructure services
Undertaking small / medium internal IT projects as instructed
Supporting enterprise solutions such as Anchor Sentinel, Sage, K2 and SharePoint
Define, document and own 1st. 2nd support procedures and configuration management documents
Collaborate and meter infrastructure standards as directed by the IT Service manager and systems teams
Identify and rectify (with appropriate team members) any non-compliance to internal technology standards

To be successful you must be able to demonstrate...

  • Demonstrable experience from a similar technical role in some of the following:
  • Infrastructure configuration and build
  • Networking: information security, firewalls, routers, switches
  • Operating systems: Microsoft (essential), Linux/other (optional)
  • Cloud computing platforms (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure)
  • Build systems such as Docker, Jenkins and Rancher (optional)
  • System backup and data protection
  • Exposure to SQL, .NET, node.js, HTML, CSS development paradigms
  • Troubleshooting across the entire stack (presentation to infrastructure)
  • SIP based telephony integration
  • Good education (5 GCSE's)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience of managing competing priorities and stakeholders
