Our client is a leading Preston based manufacturer that operates on a worldwide basis. They have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced German speaking International Sales Manager to join their successful and forward thinking sales team, and to be a part of their growing presence in their international market.

As a manufacturer their route to market is mainly via appointed distributors and it is primarily their development, relationship building, gaining loyalty and the promotion of brands over their competitors that enhance their sales. Due to the nature of the company's product specification, technical, warranty, dispute resolution and credit control work is also undertaken.

The International Sales Manager will implement regular planned sales visits to original equipment manufacturers, wholesalers, catalogue companies, fleets and large end users. Sales activity will also include telephone, e-mail, e-shots, desk research, exhibitions, networking etc and attending trade shows. It will also involve identifying and calling on potential new customers and introducing new products to new markets and distributors.

There will be frequent sales travel to International markets, so the successful International Sales Manager must be able to commit to travel as and when needed, as well as the expected attendance at sales meetings and provision of information to the company Directors and Managers.

Essentially they're looking for a dependable, dynamic team member with a great track record of key account management through distribution, and one that will attain further sales and meet the demands of several fast moving competitive markets. Language skills are very important to this role. Spanish, French or German are highly desirable but other language skills will be taken into account.

Key responsibilities

Regular communication with Directors, other Managers & colleagues.

Exhibition organisation and efficacy assessment.

Develops a business plan and sales strategy for the market(s) that ensures the attainment of company sales goals and profitability.

Maintain existing sales and to improve ROE (Return of Capital Employed)

Comprehensively monitor customer purchase patterns making use of various IT analysis tools and pivot tables.

Initiate and coordinate development of action plans to penetrate new markets and build existing ones with new and existing products.

Present a good image of the products and the Company

Awareness of competitor activity - their strategy, pricing and weaknesses.

Develop sound product and market knowledge.

Attend trade association meetings and events.

Resolve contractual and commercial problems.

Budget preparation.

Customer credit limits and risk management.

Prepare presentations for customers and for sales and management meetings.
