My clients are an award winning electrical engineering contractor and have a vacancy for a Financial Controller to assist in the day to day financial activities of the business and ensure the companies finance function is organised and efficient to enable the production of accurate financial and management accounts.

Assist in establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

Key responsibilities will include:

Supervise the preparation of month end accounts and CIS & VAT returns

Ensure the completion of daily Sage bank reconciliations

Maintain the daily production key daily KPI information

Managing the audit process and liaising with external personnel

Managing, mentoring and motivating the accounts team

Ability to undertake financial analysis and reporting

Ensuring robust financial systems and processes are maintained

Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analysing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.

Dealing with daily tax and compliance obligations

Assist with developing forecasting models (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)

Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential

Accurately maintain Trade Debtor & Creditor postings to external audit standards

Thorough understanding of Accruals, Pre-payments & journals

Maintenance of Sage postings & accuracy of narratives & audit trail

Excellent IT & Microsoft Excel skills

Report into Commercial Director

Liaise with external appointed Accountants

The Ideal Candidate:

Excellent communicator, with both internal and external colleagues at all levels

Hard-working, efficient and motivated by results

Ability to analyse and make recommendations, alongside the capacity to drive through key business changes

Qualified and highly experienced in a similar role

Profile:

5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience

Expert knowledge in SAGE Account Line 50 - Both functionality & integration

Experience with reconciling SQL/Cloud Accounting packages with Sage

CPA or CMA preferred

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

Experience with creating financial statements

Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process

Excellent accounting software user and administration skills

Awareness of the provisions of the Data Protection Act and be able to apply these within the organisation maintaining high levels of confidentiality

Good communication and listening skills

Good organisation skills used in planning own work

Calm and professional disposition

Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines
