An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join a very steady team, based in Thornton.

The role will be to manage the financial internal reporting processes, mentoring and training of junior accountants and to manage the budgeting and forecasting process.

Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, collating and preparing results for timely review by the Head of Finance and Directors, including scenario analysis and recommendations, meeting HQ submission deadlines.

Responsible for all Head Office and local variance analysis relating to budget, forecasts and actual submissions to deadline.

Direct responsibility for the management, mentoring and development of the Assistant Commercial Accountant. As a new role this role will need shaping and it is perceived there will be close daily management of the tasks and setting of work, scoping out content and facilitating introduction to the Commercial team to ensure buy in. Ensure the development plan is met to timescales.

Daily support and training for the Assistant Financial Accountant to ensure their development plan is on track.

Direct responsibility for the Accounts Assistant ensuring professional development and that key tasks and development plan are met fully. Top level assistance with purchase ledger projects

Oversee the issuing and preparation of the monthly management pack with the Assistant Accountants.

Assist the Head of Finance with any other ad hoc finance requests.

To be considered for this role:

Knowledge of accounting principles and conventions gained through work experience within a management accounts function and formal training.

Focus of this role is to have an in depth understanding of month end processes in order to be a strong mentor to the financial and commercial accountants who are in a training role with a view to reducing the need for close supervision over time.

Full detailed knowledge of the budgeting and forecasting process with the ability to present results and various scenarios to tight deadline to produce results for review by the business.

Good appreciation of international accounting standards and taxation within multiple European jurisdictions

ACCA or ACA qualified.

Strong mentoring skills with a natural ability to train and develop inexperienced staff in complex accounting techniques.

Accuracy and attention to detail are key qualities.

Self-starter, confident communicator and ability to work on own initiative.

Ability to manage workload and work to strict deadlines.

Advanced Excel skills.

Experience in large ERP systems, preferably BPCS or MS Dynamics

5 + years' experience of working in a Senior accounting role and managing/mentoring staff.
