My client is a leading importer and supplier of commercial kitchen products, with an enviable reputation within their sector for competitive pricing and high levels of customer service.

They're now seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their busy Accounts department based at their Blackburn office. Working as part of a team, the Accounts Assistant will assist in the daily administration of the company's sales and purchase ledgers. The role will involve a significant element of routine work in support of regular transactions within the department, but will also require contribution towards month end and analysis of data in support of the department. This position requires a candidate that can demonstrate previous experience of working within sales, purchase and general ledger, and one that will be organised and take pride in producing accurate work that meets strict deadlines.

Reporting to the Head of Accounts, the successful Accounts Assistant will be responsible for:

Maintenance and review of multi-currency payables ledger

To ensure stock purchase invoices are correctly matched to purchase orders and delivery notes before entering onto Navision system

Process sales invoices, credit notes & cash receipts

To code and post all general ledger invoices and credit notes

Investigate Ledgers & ensure all issues and discrepancies are dealt with in a timely & efficient manor

To prepare and enter payments by BACS

Reconcile Supplier Statements

Bank Reconciliations

Process Employee Expenses

Post Journals

Assist with the maintenance of the fixed asset register

Preparation of Management Accounts

Post accruals and prepayments

Provide support with month end tasks and variance Analysis

The ideal Accounts Assistant will need to have strong communication skills and work well within a team and possess a willingness to be proactive.

Be able to provide a professional, diligent and timely accounting service.

Excellent organisational skills, ability to solve problems.

Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise work, and meet deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy.

Good knowledge of Excel, Ms Office. Microsoft Dynamics Nav and Sage 50 desirable

Have knowledge of accruals and prepayments.

Ideally AAT Level 4 or studying.

Proven track record of similar work.

The role also requires the candidate to be flexible and adaptive and be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across internal departments and to external stakeholders.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm
